The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

World & Exploration

The Witcher 3 lets players explore several large regions, including the war-torn swamps and villages of Velen, the city streets of Novigrad, the islands of Skellige, and the later expansion region of Toussaint. The world is filled with monster contracts, treasure hunts, ruins, caves, villages, hidden quests, and morally complicated stories. Exploration is one of the game’s biggest strengths because even small side quests often have strong writing and meaningful choices.

Combat & Monster Hunting

Combat combines swordplay, dodging, parrying, crossbows, bombs, potions, oils, and magic signs. As a witcher, Geralt prepares for fights by studying monsters, using the right tools, and exploiting enemy weaknesses. The combat is action-focused, but the RPG systems matter too: gear upgrades, alchemy, skills, and witcher school armor sets all help shape how players approach fights.

Choices & Storytelling

One of the most important parts of The Witcher 3 is its choice-driven storytelling. Many quests give players difficult decisions without clear good or evil answers, and those choices can affect characters, settlements, quest outcomes, and parts of the ending. The game’s writing is a major reason it is still considered one of the strongest story-driven RPGs.

Expansions

The Witcher 3 has two major released expansions: Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine. Both are included in the Complete Edition, along with the game’s free DLC. CD PROJEKT also announced a third expansion, Songs of the Past, planned for 2027 on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
