Legacy of Atlantis is not being presented as a simple remaster. It is a full reimagining of Lara’s debut adventure, designed to honor the spirit of the original while modernizing its level design, combat, puzzle-solving, visuals, and storytelling. The official site describes it as a reimagining of the 1996 genre-defining game with modern gameplay and new surprises.

Exploration & Tombs

Exploration is one of the game’s biggest focuses. Lara travels through ancient ruins, jungles, deserts, tombs, and mythic locations while uncovering secrets and solving environmental challenges. The game emphasizes classic adventure fantasy: hidden paths, dangerous ruins, ancient mechanisms, and locations lost to time.

Puzzles & Traversal

The game brings back Tomb Raider’s puzzle-heavy identity with modern design. Confirmed puzzle elements include manipulating water flow, redirecting light beams, activating pressure plates, and decoding symbols. Traversal also plays a major role, with Lara using her strength, agility, climbing ability, jumps, swings, and a grappling hook to move through dangerous environments.

Combat & Threats

Lara faces wildlife, mercenaries, and mythological creatures while using her iconic dual pistols and other unlockable weapons. Combat appears to lean into agile action, with acrobatic movement and modernized third-person combat while still keeping the classic Tomb Raider adventure feel.

Release Status

Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis is currently scheduled for February 12, 2027. The game is confirmed for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam.
