Wuthering Waves is a free-to-play open-world action RPG developed and published by Kuro Games. Set in the post-apocalyptic world of Solaris-3, the game follows Rover, a mysterious protagonist who awakens with no memory and joins a cast of powerful companions known as Resonators. With a focus on fast combat, stylish characters, exploration, and ongoing live-service updates, Wuthering Waves blends story-driven adventure with character collection and long-term progression.

World & Premise

The game takes place after a world-changing disaster known as the Lament, which left civilization broken and filled the land with dangerous enemies and strange phenomena. As Rover, players travel through ruined cities, rebuilt settlements, and vast wilderness while uncovering lost memories and learning the truth behind Solaris-3. The story leans heavily into mystery, survival, and the idea of humanity rebuilding after catastrophe.

Combat & Exploration

Wuthering Waves is built around fast, skill-based combat. Players swap between Resonators, dodge enemy attacks, trigger counterattacks, use special abilities, and chain together character skills in real time. Exploration is also a major part of the experience, with sprinting, climbing, wall-running, gliding, and other traversal tools making movement across the open world feel quick and fluid.

Echo System

One of the game’s signature features is the Echo system. By defeating certain enemies, players can collect Echoes and equip them to characters for extra stats, abilities, or combat effects. Echoes act as both a progression system and a way to customize builds, giving players more control over how their Resonators perform in battle.

Gacha System

Wuthering Waves uses a banner-based gacha system called Convene, where players spend summon currency to obtain new Resonators and weapons. Limited-time banners feature special 5-star characters, while standard banners provide permanent characters and weapons. The system includes pity mechanics, with guaranteed higher-rarity pulls after a set number of attempts, making character collection a major part of the game’s progression and live-service appeal.
