How to Get the Double Jump in Hollow Knight

What Double Jump Is

The double jump ability in Hollow Knight is called Monarch Wings. It lets you jump a second time while in the air.

This ability is very useful for reaching higher platforms, dodging attacks, and unlocking new areas later in the game.

Go to Ancient Basin

Monarch Wings are found in Ancient Basin. To reach this area, travel down from City of Tears or go through Royal Waterways.

Once you arrive in Ancient Basin, look for the bench and make sure you are ready before going deeper. The area has tougher enemies and an important boss fight.

Defeat the Broken Vessel

To get double jump, you need to defeat the Broken Vessel boss in Ancient Basin. This boss is found on the left side of the area.

Broken Vessel is fast and can fill the arena with infection attacks, so focus on dodging first. Heal when the boss is staggered or when you have a safe opening.

Collect Monarch Wings

After defeating Broken Vessel, continue left past the boss arena. You will find the Monarch Wings nearby.

Pick them up to unlock double jump. From this point on, you can press jump again while in the air to reach higher places.

Where to Go After Getting Double Jump

After getting Monarch Wings, you can explore more of Hallownest. Many areas that were blocked by high platforms or difficult jumps are now easier to reach.

Good places to check next include Kingdom’s Edge, Queen’s Gardens, Ancient Basin, and older areas where you saw ledges that were too high before.
