What to Do With the Owlbear Egg in Baldur’s Gate 3

Best Use for the Owlbear Egg

The best use for the Owlbear Egg is to keep it and use it later in Lady Esther’s quest in the Mountain Pass.

Lady Esther asks you to steal a Githyanki Egg, but you can trick or persuade her into taking the Owlbear Egg instead. This lets you avoid giving her the real Githyanki Egg and still finish the quest for a reward.

Sell It for Gold

If you do not care about Lady Esther’s quest, you can sell the Owlbear Egg for a lot of gold. It is worth more than most random loot you find early in the game.

This is a good option if you need money for gear, scrolls, potions, or supplies.

Do Not Use It as Camp Supplies

The Owlbear Egg can be used as Camp Supplies for a Long Rest, but this is usually a waste.

It gives 40 Camp Supplies, which is useful, but the egg is much more valuable as a quest item or something to sell. Try not to accidentally consume it when resting.

Where to Find the Owlbear Egg

The Owlbear Egg is found in the Owlbear Cave in Act 1. It is in the nest near the Owlbear mother and cub.

Taking the egg can start a fight if you get too close or steal it at the wrong time, so be ready before grabbing it.

What You Should Choose

Keep the Owlbear Egg if you plan to go to the Mountain Pass and meet Lady Esther.

Sell it if you only want gold and do not care about that quest.

Avoid eating it during a Long Rest unless you really do not want to use it for anything else.
