Understand Reinhardt’s Job

Reinhardt is a tank hero who leads the team from the front. His job is to create space, protect teammates, and force enemies to move back.

You should not stand still with your shield up forever. Reinhardt is strongest when he moves forward with his team, uses cover, and looks for chances to swing his hammer safely.

Use Your Shield Smartly

Barrier Field is useful for blocking damage, protecting teammates, and helping your team move through dangerous areas.

Do not waste your shield by holding it up all the time. Let it recharge when you are behind cover, and only use it when your team needs protection. A broken shield can leave you and your team exposed.

Use your shield to block big enemy abilities, protect low-health teammates, or help your team cross open space.

Fight Around Corners

Corners are very important for Reinhardt. They let you stay safe while waiting for enemies to come close enough for your hammer.

Instead of walking straight into open space, play near walls, doors, and corners. This lets you block damage, swing when enemies get close, and hide when your shield gets low.

A good Reinhardt does not need to chase every enemy. Make them walk into your space.

Use Charge Carefully

Charge can be powerful, but it is also risky. If you miss or charge too far into the enemy team, you can get eliminated quickly.

Use Charge when the target is close, when you can pin them into a nearby wall, or when your team can follow up. Avoid long charges across the map unless you are sure it is safe.

You can also use Charge to escape or quickly reposition, but do not waste it if a fight is about to start.

Get Value From Fire Strike

Fire Strike is useful for damaging enemies from range and building your ultimate charge. Use it when enemies are grouped together or walking through narrow areas.

Try not to throw Fire Strike randomly when you are already under heavy pressure. Your shield drops when you use it, so make sure you are not exposing yourself or your team at the wrong time.

Use Earthshatter at the Right Time

Earthshatter can win team fights if you hit multiple enemies or catch an important target. Look for moments when enemies are grouped up, distracted, or missing abilities that can block or avoid it.

Do not rush your ultimate. Try to use Earthshatter when your team is close enough to follow up and secure kills.

Against another Reinhardt, watch their shield carefully. If their shield is down or they are turning away, that can be a good time to shatter.

Common Reinhardt Mistakes

A common mistake is holding shield too much and never attacking. Reinhardt needs to block damage, but he also needs to create pressure.

Another mistake is charging too far into the enemy team. Short, controlled Charges are usually safer than long, risky ones.

Many players also ignore cover. Even with a shield, Reinhardt should still use walls and corners to stay alive longer.
