Cyberpunk 2077 Review

Redemption in Night City

You play V, a mercenary on the rise whose mind ends up sharing space with the digital ghost of rockerboy Johnny Silverhand, played by Keanu Reeves, after a heist goes catastrophically wrong. After the transformative 2.0 update and Phantom Liberty, this is finally the game CD Projekt Red always promised.

Night City

Night City is one of the densest, most vertical, and most atmospheric open worlds ever built — a neon dystopia of warring corporations, fixers, gigs, and braindance investigations that rewards exploration at every turn.

Builds After 2.0

The overhauled skill trees, cyberware capacity system, and perks give builds real identity. Whether you favour netrunning quickhacks, a bullet-time Sandevistan, mantis-blade stealth, or pure gunslinging, combat is now flexible and genuinely satisfying.

Story and Choices

The campaign is gripping and superbly acted, wrestling with V’s mortality across multiple endings, while side quests like the Sun and Star paths rank among the best in the genre.

Phantom Liberty

The Phantom Liberty expansion is a superb spy-thriller, adding the lawless Dogtown district, the conflicted Songbird, and Idris Elba’s Solomon Reed in a branching story full of the game’s finest moments.

Lingering Issues

It’s not flawless — the odd bug still surfaces, and it remains demanding on hardware to run at its best — but these are minor blemishes now.

Verdict

Cyberpunk 2077 is finally an essential RPG. The road here was rocky, but the destination — a gorgeous, gripping, deeply customisable adventure — is more than worth it.

Pros

Stunning, dense Night City

Gripping story and characters
