Hollow Knight: Silksong Review

Hornet’s Journey

The long-awaited sequel casts you as Hornet, captured and carried to the unfamiliar kingdom of Pharloom. Compelled to ascend toward its shining Citadel, she sets off through a strange new land with its own myths, perils, and secrets.

Faster, Fiercer Combat

Hornet completely changes the feel of the series. She’s faster and more acrobatic than the Knight — sprinting, dashing, and fighting in the air — trading careful caution for thrilling, aggressive confrontations built around her needle and silk-based healing.

Tools and Crafting

A huge array of craftable tools and traps, purchased and assembled with Rosary currency at benches, constantly reshapes how you approach combat and traversal, keeping the lengthy adventure feeling fresh throughout.

A Bigger, Bolder World

Pharloom is vast, varied, and gorgeous — even more ambitious than Hallownest. Every region bursts with new enemies, secrets, and breathtaking hand-drawn art, with a greater emphasis on verticality and momentum.

Exhilarating Bosses

The boss fights are some of the most exhilarating and demanding Team Cherry has ever designed, pushing Hornet’s aggressive moveset to its limits.

A Stern Test

It’s demanding — sometimes punishingly so — and the sheer volume of content can feel overwhelming, but the challenge is fair and conquering it is endlessly rewarding.

Verdict

Silksong is a triumphant sequel — bigger, bolder, and even better than the original. One of the finest Metroidvanias ever crafted, and absolutely worth the wait.

Pros

Faster, more aggressive combat

Gorgeous, varied new kingdom

Hornet is a brilliant protagonist

Enormous and packed with content

Cons

Demanding difficulty

So much content it can overwhelm
